The way they’ve combined a North Indian communal eatery feel with a classic British Chop House vibe – it’s absolutely brilliant [21]!

Tandoori Magic

Let me tell you about their 24-hour marination process – it’s a game-changer [1]. I’ve tried quite a few tandoori spots in Berlin, but these dishes keep drawing me back:

I’ll be honest with you – if you’re expecting fancy decor, this might not be your spot. It’s a medium-sized, no-frills space [26], but what they lack in ambiance, they more than make up for in cleanliness and food quality. The kitchen hygiene standards are impressive [23], and that’s what really matters when you’re after authentic flavors, right?

A Biryani That’ll Transport You

Let me tell you about their Hyderabadi biryani – it’s absolutely magnificent! The traditional dum style preparation had me mesmerized – watching them slow-cook marinated meat and aromatic rice in sealed copper pots is like witnessing culinary artistry. Here’s what keeps me coming back:

Not What You’d Expect

Here’s something funny – from outside, you might mistake it for a cocktail bar! But step inside, and you’ll find yourself in one of Berlin’s most authentic Indian dining spots [27]. They’re open Tuesday through Sunday, 12:00 to 18:00 [27], which honestly could be longer – I wish they had later dinner hours!

Want to know if it’s authentic? Well, when over half the diners are Indian, drawn by word-of-mouth recommendations about the biryani [9], you know you’re onto something special. I’ve been here at odd hours like 4 PM, and it’s still buzzing with activity!

I’ll be honest with you – the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality you’re getting. Their signature biryanis range from €14.90 to €15.90 [4], and they accept everything from cash to contactless payments [27]. Planning a celebration? For groups of 30 or more, they’ve got these fantastic set menu packages [4].

What makes Swadesh truly special? While they stay true to authentic flavors, they’ve thoughtfully included plenty of vegan and vegetarian options [28]. The chefs really know their stuff – each dish tastes like it could have come straight from a Delhi street cart. When’s the last time you had street food this good?

Agni – Vegan-Friendly Indian

Image

Looking for vegan Indian food that doesn’t compromise on flavor? I’ve discovered something special! Agni has absolutely revolutionized plant-based Indian cuisine in Berlin. With two locations – a cozy spot in Moabit and a more spacious setting in Prenzlauer Allee – this family-run establishment proves that traditional Indian flavors and vegan cooking can create pure magic [31].

Vegan Dishes That’ll Blow Your Mind

You know what really impresses me about Agni? The way they maintain those authentic Indian flavors while keeping everything vegan-friendly. Here are some dishes that keep me coming back:

The best part? They’re always happy to customize dishes to match your vegan preferences [31].

Two Unique Experiences

Have you been to both locations? The Moabit spot is my favorite for intimate dinners – just five tables and a front-row view of the tandoor oven in action [6]. But when I’m meeting friends, we head to the Prenzlauer Allee branch – it’s perfect for larger groups [6]. While neither location will wow you with fancy decor, the focus here is entirely where it should be – on creating authentic, memorable flavors [32].

Value That Makes Sense

I’m always transparent about prices – main courses start at €9.00 for vegetable dishes and go up to €22.20 for elaborate preparations like their Veggie Tikka Malaidar [10]. Everything’s cooked fresh to order, which makes these prices feel like a bargain [32]. Pro tip: Their Sunday vegetarian/vegan buffet is an absolute treasure, featuring seasonal specialties that change weekly [33].

What really sets Agni apart? It’s the chef’s dedication to maintaining those authentic Indian flavors while embracing vegan cooking. Whether you’re requesting a specific spice level or dietary modification [6], they’re always happy to accommodate. I’ve brought both vegan and non-vegan friends here, and everyone leaves impressed. When’s the last time you had vegan food this exciting?
